In California alone, over 1,300 children are killed each year due to gun violence.
Approximately a third of 8-13 year old boys who came across an unlocked firearm, picked it up and pulled the trigger.
At least 64% of these killings are accidents. The remaining fall under homicides and suicides.
Movement of Mourning Mother’s Association INC. (MOMMA) is a 501c(3) organization founded in 2016 by Tameco Brewster who has been personally impacted by gun violence. The program serves the Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Prior to receiving recognition by the IRS MOMMA served the communities helping to supplement food, clothing, toiletries, and school supplies to the homeless, mourning individuals and families impacted by trauma. It is our primary mission to provide higher learning, and essential tools to promote healing by way of Individual Counseling, Grief and Loss support groups, Domestic Violence, Anger Management classes and Youth Mentorship.
In order to make a difference, we rely on the support of generous individuals and businesses in our communities. We would be most grateful if you would consider donating to our organization. Your support is critical to the mission of this foundation and we will gladly keep you updated regarding our progress should you wish. We will be using the items donated to create food baskets, and cloth the deceased if the families are unable to provide. All monetary donations will be used to purchase inventory such as clothing, at discounted prices from local vendors, food items from food banks to stock our pantry, and to set aside a budget for obituary’s for qualifying families. Monetary donations will also help mourning families with (3) months of utility assistance to aid their transition back into the work force.
